This is the latest custom piece for a fab customer of mine on etsy, buffyleigh.

I love how deconstructed the finish of the piece is. It has a fab texturised surface quality ,which is quite difficult to capture on camera too! The neck on this is so dramatic too! (I just love neck action!) lol

I have added embellishments all over this piece in random sections, featuring, antique lace, vintage buttons (courtesy of my antique shop fiend pal Ruby) , metal (for steampunk love) and stones with some ebroidery too! all in all a piece that im very excited about!

The latest Custom Scarf to sell in my etsy boutique, this charcoal neo victorian neck piece! Am so stressed at the moment that its impossible to come up with words for this post! I have writers blog block, shall we say! I think its time for show and tell, (without the "tell") lol. The funny thing is I have loads of news!!! lots of interesting prospects going on, but just too full of brain jam to even decipher the news out! Maybe my head will empty up somewhat in the next few days to be able to add something .......anything!!! ;)

I would love the person who said women can multi task be flogged with liquorice laces!! :)

This corset is one of my latest couture creations for a special client! Its made from red raw silk and is broken up with some black charcoal tweed and highly embellished with lace, beads, buttons and french knots!

Its been hectic in the studio today, I got an explosion of activity in my etsy shop this morning after my couture scarfs were featured on the front page!!! it was so exciting to see all the buzz, only thing now is the deadlines that follow!! :)

so its all systems go at the mo and I have enlisted my sewing pal to give me a hand, and for company while I crack up in the studio!!! lol

I also really pleased to see that it went to a repeat customer, who has also bought one of my corsets! This is always a really good sign when peeps like to return as its affirming for me that I may be doing something right ! lol

I am really fond of this new piece and thrilled to see that its off to a good home too!!! I will be updating my etsy boutique with more couture Neck Pieces so check by to see the new stock!

I have been really getting into making scarves and neck pieces recently, I love coming up with new sculptural shapes that really frame the face! Of course there is always a little touch of neovictorian in there too!, dare I say the girl just can't help herself!

I love the challenge of designing a new one for custom oders, my fave scenario is when I get told acolour scheme and then just get a sense of what the client is into, in terms of there own personal style and then just go for it! It always surprises me what comes out of that client/designer collaboration! Like for example the scarf pictured, which was a custom order for the fabulous WhisperingMary of etsy, who does the most beautiful illustrations of yesteryear!! go check out her shop here too!

The Fab Blogging duo Deb and Wendy from "DIY Thing" have announced the the much anticipated arrival of there new indie magazine DIY City Magazine! I am so excited to see publications like these popping up as it just further emphasised the growing trend towards independent design and living and away from mass production and commercialism!!!! yay, all good news for independent designers such as myself! Deb and Wendy had this to say about its approach....................

Do-it-yourself (DIY) is an idea that has always had adherents of varying commitment. But, today more than ever, DIYs are defining style. The current indie craft revolution is one indication that independent artists are offering real alternatives to mass produced items. DIY City is an online magazine that celebrates the independent artist and the DIY spirit. The idea for the mag grew out of a need to find arts and crafts supplies and resources in New York City. Launching on February 1, 2008, our first issue will highlight NYC themed products. We will also bring you an inside look at some indie designers living and working in New York. DIY City will be a guide for indie artists searching for resources and supplies. Each issue will highlight a different, exciting DIY city. In the second issue, we will focus on New Orleans. In the meantime, as you wait for the next issue, we will bring you stories of DIYs from around the globe.

So to visit the gals over at the new mag go to www.diycitymag.com for all things Indie, Design and down right brilliant!!! lol

xx Congrat Deb and Wendy xxx

wishing you gals every success!
